Revisiting this reaction and album, two things stick out to me: 1) You can always tell when an artist has a jazz background. 2) I know Kelela has a deep love and admiration for Little Dragon and Yukimi Nagano, and something that both of them do is this slow vibrato that’s so ELEGANT. Love this album!

I mirrored so many of your comments during my first listen. although I expected more Raven songs, I’m glad she’s introducing people who only know that project to her previous catalog and agreed: All The Way Down is my fave Kelela song evaaaa, she saved it as her encore in her last tour (for the London show at least) at it made me cry cause that was the only song she sang from that era. anyhow, beautiful tiny desk. recognized one of the background singers from her Take Me Apart tour, love to see it. do review the remix album when you get a chance, “Imma live and die” is living rent free in my head.
